POSITION TITLE: Instructional Coordinator
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Allied Health Education Programs
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the delivery of classroom training to Allied Health Education program participants; with direct supervision of the Allied Health Faculty.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervises faculty members, including monitoring lesson plans, professional development plans, and other instructor documents; ensures that all documents are adequately completed and submitted in a timely manner.
2. Completes Instructor Qualification Records (IQRs) as needed.
3. Creates and maintains up-to-date Attendance Sheets for all classes.
4. Participates in Student Information Sessions and Orientations and Faculty Meetings and In-Services. Handles all initial student and instructor related issues.
5. Monitors students pre- and post-test results, mid-term and final grades, etc. Discusses and advises students regarding their results in these areas. Ensures that required documentation in these areas is submitted to the correct personnel.
6. Works with Allied Health faculty to ensure that all steps are executed with respect to ensuring positive student attendance, retention, and academic outcomes.
7. Makes recommendations to the Director of Allied Health Education on disciplinary cases and/or dismissals for students and staff.
8. Attends internal and external meetings/trainings as needed.
9. Conducts student surveys, needs assessments, and classroom observations.
10. Submits reports, as needed, to the Director of Allied Health Education regarding Allied Health accomplishments, challenges, and opportunities.
11. Other duties as assigned.

3. Recognizes students as customers and treats them with utmost respect.
4. Attends Allied Health faculty meetings, in-services, workshops, and any other meetings as needed or scheduled; provides feedback on curricula, student progress, and other instruction-related topics.
5. Provides lesson plans for each class one week in advance; provides Teaching Assignment Applications as appropriate; and provides approved Substitute Form for each class one week in advance as needed and attaches same to time sheet.
6. Begins class at the designated time and provides a full period of instruction for scheduled class time; devotes one full hour to preparation time for every five hours taught; provides amount of substitution time and time spent in Faculty meetings; in-services, and/or onsite professional development meetings per pay period to the Director of Allied Health Programs.
7. Covers all material in depth and scope as described in the course syllabi; provides students with a copy of the course syllabus no later than the second day of class.
8. Is prepared at all times for classroom observations and course/student surveys whether announced or unannounced; will review results of the classroom observations and course/student surveys with the Director of Allied Health Programs.
9. Equitably allocates time for individual students as needed to assist with progress in class and addresses any problems, which may hamper successful program completion. Provides individual and group counseling to participants as needed. Maintains up-to-date information that addresses participants' progress and/or problems. Reports existing conditions and situations regarding all program participants to the Director of Allied Health and the Dean of Accreditation and Curricula as needed.
10. Assists in documentation of student attendance. Keeps accurate attendance rosters and Attendance Sign-in sheets on a daily basis and verifies student attendance as needed. Reports significant attendance problems to the Director of Allied Health Programs.
11. Actively works to maintain student retention. Discusses continuing problem cases with, and makes recommendations and referrals to, the Director of Allied Health.
12. Administers and grades examinations and schoolwork for each course taught. Records all competencies completed. Returns all graded student work as soon as possible.
13. Completes Progress Reports for each student at the end of each benchmark time period (i.e., midpoint and end of each quarter) and submits electronic Grade Reports on time to the Director of Allied Health and to the Dean of Accreditation and Curricula. Is prepared at all times to explain grade calculations to the students and/or Dean of Accreditation and Curricula as requested.
14. Conducts pre-employment, career/job counseling in classroom as well as on individual basis, as necessary. Maintains communication with Employment Department staff to determine employment readiness of the student.
15. Submits, on an annual basis, a current ACICS Data Sheet to the Dean of Accreditation and Curricula.
16. Completes and submits annually to the Director of Allied Health a current Professional Development Plan. Submits in a timely manner to the Director of Allied Health a completed Professional Development Activity Log with attached proof of attendance following a professional development activity. Keeps current with the developments in his/her subject area(s) and continually reviews and upgrades performance as an instructor. Attends professional development sessions as scheduled.
17. Identifies new approaches for discussion and implementation of course work. Utilizes a variety of teaching styles in order to meet the different learning styles of students. Attends the ALRC New Teacher Orientation session within 6 months of employment. Provides documentation of attendance to the Director of Allied Health.
18. Completes in a timely and submits to the Director of Allied Health all required documentation, i.e., Time Sheets, attendance sign-in sheets, electronic grade reports, substitution forms, Professional Development Planners, Professional Development Activity Logs with attached proof of attendance, etc.
19. Dresses in acceptable business office attire and maintains a well-groomed appearance at all times.
20. Responsible for the custody, care, and safekeeping of school property and exercises control over expendable supplies. Limits the use of technology, (computers, printers, etc.) to school-related business.
21. Knows and enforces school policies, rules, and regulations as they relate to students and classroom environment, i.e., Faculty should ensure that students are not using electronic devices such as cell phones, IPods, digital cameras, Blackberry, smart phones, etc., during class time. Faculty should adhere to the same policies.
22. Attends graduation ceremonies if schedule permits.
23. Other Duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree preferred, Associates Degree accepted, in Healthcare related field or Education.
2. Must be able to be approved by the Illinois State Board of Education to teach all subjects on his/her teaching scheduled either by educational background or by work experience.
3. A minimum of five years of supervisory and instructional experience with proven leadership qualities.
4. Excellent interpersonal, classroom management, conflict resolution, writing and communication skills.
5. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
